Features rundown

Kal Clark (talk) 16:22, 19 October 2012 (PDT)

  • Full editing of any topic (we are basically duplicating the wikipedia engine; user editing style is exactly the same; you can edit our text the same way you would make an edit on wikipedia)
  • Customizable view/skins
  • Search
  • Password protected
  • File types/version-tracking (enabled all typical filetypes)
  • Max file upload size increased to 64MB

Uploading files

  • AAA sample powerpoint: Making and uploading images, Powerpoints etc is as easy as making a link to it using wiki. You upload directly from your computer to site, like this Special:Upload

General FAQ

[[File:yourfile.ppt]] will bring users to a download page. This might be useful if you want to utilize the file's discussion space that's included for every uploaded file on the download page.
[[Media:yourfile.ppt]] will allow users to 1-click download the file

Method 1

Upload before linking method

  1. Identify file you want to upload on thumbdrive, hard-drive
  2. On the wikipage, along the left panel go to toolbox and select 'upload file'
  3. Browse to your file, copy the 'destination filename' which will be how this file will be named on the wiki and how this file will be downloaded by visitors. Do not remove any extensions after the period like pptx or pdf; this will make the file essentially unusable.
  4. Go back to the page where you want to insert the file, edit the page, and then either type in [[File:Yourfilehere.xxx]] or you can click on the picture frame above the edit box (which is the 6th box from the left)

Method 2

Link before upload method

  1. Go to the page where you want to insert the file, edit the page, and then either type in [[File:Yourdesiredfilename.xxx]] or you can click on the picture frame above the edit box (which is the 6th box from the left). Replace .xxx with the file type extension i.e. .pdf .ppt .pptx .jpg
  2. Save the page, now a link will be created on the page
  3. Click on the link which will bring you to the file upload page
  4. Browse to your file, leave the destination filename untouched (because you've already named-it/set-it in step 1)
  5. Upload
