Orientation Modules

1. For most of the core rotations, we need a pdf or powerpoint summarizing the logistical considerations of getting started in each rotation (something analogous to the survival guide).

2. For the core rotations we need a PACS folder analagous to the medical student PACS folders to be reviewed with the R1 on the first day of each rotation by the senior resident. This could be a joint effort between residents and faculty members.

RESIDENT RESEARCH PROJECTS - Projects started by other residents that may require additional help or continued effort by future interested residents.

GETTING STARTED

Process generally requires approval by SBR (Radiology), then CPC (Cancer Center) if applicable, then IRB.

1. https://www.citiprogram.org/Default.asp? You must complete the CITI modules in order to begin an IRB application. Processing takes about a week.

2. https://eirb.mc.duke.edu/eirb/ Log into the eIRB to start completing your application.

3. Contact CeeJay Dozar by email or phone (684 7891) to establish a secure network drive if your project involves PHI.

4. If applicable, a formal budget must be established. In my experience, rough estimates are adequate.

5. Barbara Kurth works in the SBR, is responsive to emails, and can help you revise the rough draft of your research summary before you submit to the SBR. This may speed things up a bit.
